Adopt An Oyster Garden
Did you know that an adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day? When you adopt a Baltimore oyster garden, you can position your company as a leader in sustainability while making a measurable impact on the health of Baltimore Harbor.
This is a hands-on, highly visible way to connect your team to meaningful environmental work right outside your office.
A High-Impact Corporate Partnership
Sponsoring an oyster garden goes beyond traditional CSR. It’s an opportunity to:
Improve water quality
Oysters naturally filter pollutants and help restore balance to the harbor
Support ecosystem restoration
Create habitat for fish and other marine life
Engage your team
Offer hands-on volunteer experiences that build camaraderie
Invest locally
Make a visible impact in the communities where your employees work
More than a Sponsorship
If your office is located along Baltimore’s waterfront, an oyster garden becomes a living, visible symbol of your company’s commitment to the environment.
Adopting an oyster garden is more than a sponsorship. It’s a story your employees, clients, and community can see in action.
Program Timing
The oyster gardening season runs August through May, aligned with optimal growing conditions in the harbor.
To participate, sponsorships must begin in August at the start of the season. This ensures your team can take part in the full lifecycle, from deployment to growth to final planting.
What Your Team Will Do
We’ll work directly with your organization to set up and support your oyster garden. Your employee volunteers will:
Install and maintain oyster habitats along the waterfront
Grow oysters that will later be planted on sanctuary reefs
Participate in volunteer events throughout the season, including an end-of-season boat trip to plant your oysters on a sanctuary reef in the Chesapeake Bay
No experience needed! We provide training, equipment, and ongoing support.
